Cake:
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour

Frosting:
- 1 pound cream cheese, softened
- 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
- In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk, eggs, food colorings, vinegar, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla together until smooth.
- Gradually add confectioners’ sugar and continue beating until fluffy.
- Frost the cooled cake layers and assemble the cake.
Notes
- Adjust the purple color intensity to preference by varying the food coloring ratio.
- Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
- Cake flour can be used instead of all-purpose flour for a softer texture.
