Black Magic Chocolate Cake

Black Magic Chocolate Cake is perfectly moist, rich in flavour, and surprisingly simple to make. This cake is a chocolate lover’s dream come true.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup strong black coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
  • For the Chocolate Frosting:
    • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
    • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
    • 3 cups powdered sugar
    • 3 tablespoons milk
    • 2 teaspoons real vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add eggs, cooled coffee, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat at medium speed for two minutes; the batter will be thin.
  3. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan or two 9 inch round cake pans.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s) and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-40 minutes for a 9×13 pan, or 30-35 minutes for round pans.
  5. For the frosting, mix softened margarine, cooled melted chocolate, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Once the cake is cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top. Enjoy your homemade Decadent Black Magic Chocolate Cake!
